Our WHY
There has been a significant uptick in searches by communities of color for mental health and wellness practitioners. In Washington, DC we have seen gun-related offenses raise 25% more than they were before the COVID 19 pandemic began. Black Washingtonians accounted for 84% of fentanyl related deaths since 2017, among other things, have stripped our youth and most of adults of humanity and key interpersonal skills needed to navigate our current world.
Studies show the psychology workforce is compiled of only 15% clinicians of color with High Schools having a 250:1 Social Worker to student ratio. Currently only Oregon and D.C. have policies in place that require students to engage in Physical Education. From the lockdown during the pandemic, to the constant threat of ancestral violence in our neighborhoods who haven’t been afforded the access to services.
OUR PILLARS

MIND
To understand how the internalization of systemic oppression creates limitations and barriers to access empowerment, confidence, and grace.

BODY
We understand that toxic stress can cause disconnection within the body. Embodied therapies can help communities of color counteract somatic trauma which manifests into disease, disassociation, and chronic pain.

SUSTAINABILITY
Understanding ways of self-sustainability. Supporting clients to identify personal, professional, and health goals and guiding implementation.
